As seen in Fig. 2A, the pelletized samples, including PCS-6, PCS-8, and PCS-10 have the similar temperature distributions, which can be attributed to their similar characteristics, having a hard shell and loose structure. Although the pelletized samples are more easily broken into fragments under higher bed and splash zone temperatures, their devolatilization velocities are still smaller than that of CCS, resulting in lower temperature distributions. Meanwhile, most of pelletized samples combust in the bed zone, and the bigger PCS particle size has the smaller combustion fraction in the splash zone. Therefore, the peak temperature of three pelletized samples decreases with the increase in particle size. ...
